2011 Military Tickets
All complimentary tickets for The Barclays have been downloaded. Any active, retired, or Reserve military along with thier dependents still wishing to attend the event may show a valid CAC at the main entrance gate and receive free admission. The Birdies for the Brave Patriots' Outpost Presented by Barclays is an expansive military hospitality chalet designed exclusively for military men and women and their families located on the 9th hole. Active duty and retired members of the military from all five branches, the National Guard and Veterans are invited to visit the Patriots' Outpost on a complimentary basis from Wednesday, August 24 through Sunday, August 28. The Patriots' Outpost will provide military guests with complimentary food and beverage, television coverage of competition each day, interactive activities, and views of the 9th hole.
The Birdies for the Brave Patriots' Outpost Presented by Barclays is part of the PGA TOUR's national Birdies for the Brave military outreach program. In addition to raising funds for military men and women and their families through charity golf events hosted throughout the year at the TOUR's TPC clubs, Birdies for the Brave includes military appreciation celebrations held during PGA TOUR tournaments; postcard and letter-writing campaigns for the troops; donation drives for military families; and the Adopt-A-Wounded Warrior Program - a collaborative effort with the Wounded Warrior Project in which honorary TPC club memberships are awarded to local wounded warriors to aid in the rehabilitation process and show appreciation for their service to our country. 2011 Military Appreciation Day
On Wednesday, August 24, The Barclays will host Military Appreciation Day. This will include a Military Appreciation Ceremony outside the Birdies for the Brave Patriots' Outpost in between the morning and afternoon Pro-Am's. The ceremony will include a Color Guard, National Anthem performance, and Drill Team and will feature Major General Glenn Rieth from the New Jersey National Guard.
Other activities on Wednesday include:
- Military Caddy Program - 54 military members from all five branches will get the opportunity to caddy for a PGA TOUR professional as they play the 9th hole
- Military Tee Announcers - Military members acting as tee announcers on the 1st and 10th tes (Thursday August 25th and Friday August 26th)
- PGA TOUR Professional Meet and Greet - Time and players TBD
- Bret Baron from WCTC 1450, broadcasting live from Birdies for the Brave Patriots' Outpost honoring our future military leaders at 2pm
2011 Military Appreciation Activities
- Thursday August 25 - Care Package Stuffing outside the Birdies for the Brave Patriots' Outpost, 1-3pm
- Friday August 26 - "Bonds of Courage" Ceremony honoring New Jersey military members
- Saturday August 27 - "ROTC Day" with reception inside Birdies for the Brave Patriots' Outpost honoring our future military leaders at 2pm
